Passkeys
Passkeys are a new and safer way to authenticate. Passkeys use cryptographic keys.
Passkeys have almost replaced passwords on almost all websites and apps because they’re easier to work with and much harder to steal.
Think of a passkey like a digital key. It unlocks an account, just like a physical key unlocks a door. Passkeys stay on the device, and when one logs in, the device proves that it has the key — no need to type in a password. Even if someone knows where the account is, none can get in without the key.
Before we get into how passkeys work, let’s see why passwords are no longer safe or easy to use.
